Presentation of the Atlantic Forum meeting at the headquarters of Las Palmas Port Authority

On April 3rd, at the headquarters of Las Palmas Port Authority, a press conference was held to present the Atlantic Forum for the European Commission maritime strategy, an international meeting which will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria on 26 - 27 April.

The meeting, promoted by the projects MaReS and MacSIMAR (PCT MAC 2007-2013), will gather economic, scientific and institutional representatives from the Azores, Madeira and the Canary Islands. They will identify and incorporate new proposals to the European Commission`s maritime strategy in order to open up new areas for economic development and job creation between 2014 and 2020, in what has been called a Blue Economy.

Mr Luis Ibarra, President of Las Palmas Port Authority hosted the press conference, with the participation of Mr Sebastián Sánchez Grisaleña, President of the Canary Confederation of Employers, Mr José Sánchez Tinoco, President of the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce, Mr Vicente Marrero, President of FEMEPA and the Canary Islands Maritime Cluster and Mr Octavio Llinás, director of the Oceanic Platform of the Canary Islands.
